the beaches of el vendrell
Located 3.5 km from the town, the beaches of the maritime districts of Sant Salvador, Coma-ruga and El Francàs constitute one of the main attractions of the municipality.
The coast, about seven kilometers long, is shallow, straight and made up of fine sandy beaches. In addition to the tranquility, crystalline quality and pleasant temperature of the sea, it should also be noted that the waters of this corner of the Costa Daurada contain a high percentage of iodine, which makes them especially healthy for the body.
Since 1988, the Vendrell coast has been awarded the Bandera Blava and is often considered one of the best in Catalonia. El Vendrell is a good place to sunbathe and to do water sports. The promenade still retains some Noucentista-style houses and old liquor stores.
Shortly before arriving at the old Sanatorium of Sant Joan de Déu (today converted into a five-star hotel), we find the Madrigueres, a natural space used by a large number of birds in their migratory phases.
The Coma-ruga beach has the Masia Blanca marine reserve, a submerged sandy beach with a gentle slope. The protected flora and fauna are generally representative of more than half of the Catalan coast.
